Umuganda takes place on the last Saturday of every month, and it is mandatory for all able-bodied Rwandan citizens to participate. Visitors and expatriates are welcome to join as volunteers and can participate as often as they wish.

Wear comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor work and closed-toe shoes. Bring sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water to stay hydrated. It's also a good idea to bring gloves and any other personal items you may need during the volunteering activities.
